HACRO Conference & AGM 2017 will take place on 28 September 2017 at the County Police HQ Welwyn Garden City. Further details in due course.

[/vc_message][vc_message]HMP The Mount extends HACRO’s accredited barista training scheme for another three years. Neil Ashley Chair of HACRO Trustees said, “We’re delighted The Mount has chosen us to continue to offer our successful barista training. It means we will be able to train another thirty or so men for employment in the buoyant coffee shop market over the next three years. Research has shown that if an ex-offender has a regular job, they are much less likely to re-offend. So this is good news all round.”[/vc_message][vc_message]

We attended the launch of this report on Tuesday 5th July 2016.
At the event Prisons Minister Andrew Selous particularly mentioned the good set up for volunteering at HMP The Mount and specifically the work undertaken by HACRO.

HACRO’s Step Inside volunteer recruitment project brings a connection from the outside into the prison for those in custody. Besides the Play Area and Visitors Centre HACRO’s volunteers has provided an essential service at HMP The Mount since 1998 covering the, Education, Chaplaincy, Resettlement & Community Links, Prison Visitors, Workshops and administrative support. There are also opportunities in Farms and Gardens. Volunteers working in prison departments tend to need relevant experience or qualifications.
